How to Take Care of Natural Hair

Take Care of Natural HairIt’s nice to possess and flaunt a healthy hair. Sporting non-frizzy, perfectly groomed locks is simply everyone’s pride.

Now how do you maintain the beauty of your hair?

It is actually easy to take good care of your hair as long as you know the right steps.

While you can do it by following a healthy diet and keeping up a good hygiene, you can also make use of these ways to continuously enjoy a wonderful natural hair:

1. Regularly Wash Your Hair, but Not Every Day

Ideally, it is good to wash the hair at least two to three times a week. Most people think that the ideal washing routine of the hair is every day. It is actually a wrong conception. No matter how much you want to sport a clean hair every day, it is good to skip washing your hair every once in awhile.

According to celebrity hair expert and stylist Dan Sharp, “Your hair’s natural oils are designed to condition and protect your tresses, so when you shampoo daily, it strips these vital oils away. It creates a vicious cycle of overproduction of oils and a need to shampoo very often.

Ideally, to keep your hair healthy, you only need to wash two to three times a week, max.” So to keep your hair healthy all the time, do the washing regularly but not every day.

2. Use a Shampoo With a Good Quality When Washing Your Hair

Shampoos really do matter. Most of the time, they are the reasons why your hair may not develop as nice as you want.

As what hairstylist Mark Townsend said, “Use dry shampoo instead of washing your hair every day. It will help reduce the oil buildup in your hair and gives amazing texture.”

When washing your hair, choose a shampoo that does not contain chemicals such as parabens and sulfates. Shampoos with these chemicals are noted to cause irritations to the hair as well as eye problems that may later arise when you are using them for a long span of time.

Also, opt for a shampoo that is ideal for your hair type. Many people think that shampoos that are cheap are a good deal. Not at all. There are less expensive shampoos that have poor qualities, so do not make the price as your basis for choosing the one that could nourish your hair.

Now, when you are looking for a shampoo that suits your hair type, here are the things that you should remember: For straight hair, choose a gentle shampoo that can be used regularly.

For curly hair, opt for a softening shampoo. And for dry hair, a shampoo with a collagen and glycerin is the ideal one because it has the ability to restore moisture into your tresses.

3. Twice a Year, Apply Vinegar Into Your Hair Before Shampooing

Research says that applying a vinegar into the hair before shampooing makes your hair shinier and even cleaner. In addition, it benefits you especially if you have dandruff problems.

Vinegar is noted to remove residue from product buildup, making your hair healthier than ever. You can make use of vinegar by mixing it with two tablespoons of apple cider along with a cup of water.

Rinse thoroughly and when finished, apply a light conditioner into your hair.

4. Deep Condition Your Hair Once a Week

Deep conditioning is very important because it keeps your hair free from damage that is usually caused by the heat and styling devices. In addition, it gives out moisture and proteins into the shaft of the hair, allowing more nutrients to keep the hair shiny, soft, strong, and flawless.

When deep conditioning your hair, you can opt for either a conditioner that is bought from the store or you can opt for a homemade conditioner using essential oils.

What are the things that you need to remember before deep conditioning your hair? First, you need to determine which type of deep conditioning you should opt.

Either moisture or protein deep conditioner, they can benefit your hair and provide wonderful results. Secondly, you have to consider your hair type and the deep conditioning that it specifically needs.

For example, if your hair is fine, then it’s good to try a botanical oil treatment before shampooing your hair. Treatments with essentials such as tea-tree oil provide hair benefits.

If your hair is medium to thick on the other hand, then opt for a moisturizer that has natural hydrators and with light properties.

Now, how long should your conditioner ideally stay in your head? You need to apply it all over your head and wait for about two to three minutes before you wash it off.

5. Moisturize Your Hair

It is important to make moisturizing the hair a habit because it encourages hair growth and healthy hair development. Now when you moisturize your hair, make sure to use a water-based product and also seal them with essential oils such as olive, almond, lavender, lavender, and castor oils.

These oils work best when they are mixed together in equal proportions of each. You can also alternately use an egg oil. Wait for about four hours after you apply them into your hair, and then shower and rinse them off. You can do this moisturizing routine twice a week.

6. Dry Your Hair Naturally

Because of certain busy days, most people resort to technology and dry their hair using blow dryers. While these devices are useful and practical, they are not advisable to be used all the time.

It is ideal to dry your hair naturally because it promotes a healthier hair growth. To dry your hair, wrap it in a cotton T-shirt after you are done with your shower. Avoid washing your hair when it is still wet as it makes your locks brittle.

Now that you know the secrets on how to effectively take care of your hair, remember to maintain this routine in order to always sport glorious, shiny locks.

You don’t need to go the salon and pay a couple of bucks to achieve a healthy hair because you can do it all by yourself!
